Earlier this year, frontman Robert Plant seemingly paved the way for another Led Zeppelin reunion, confirming he’s “got nothing to do in 2014.” By all accounts, Plant was the sole reason the legendary band failed to stage any additional concerts following their 2007 reunion in London. So, with Plant now on board, Led Zeppelin will for sure reunite once more in 2014, right?

Not so fast, says bassist John Paul Jones. In a new interview with The Guardian, Jones explains he has other plans for 2014, as he’ll be adapting a 105-year-old Swedish play into an opera.

“Right now I’m halfway through the first act,” Jones said of the opera, which is based on August Strindberg’s Spöksonaten. He explained, “[Opera] is unlike anything else. It’s the emotion, the passion, and I’m writing an opera myself so I have to say that.”

Well, there’s always 2015.

Jonesy, no one missed you in 1995 or 1998, when our boys toured without you and named it No Quarter just to make sure they rubbed your dour face in it !!! Stay home, boo hoo, we’ll rock it out one more time without you !!!

well, you’ll have to forgive me if i stay home too. it’s always so amusing that so many people don’t realize that JPJ was the most talented member of LZ. it’s actually quite a bit sad too.

Hey one single album does not a solo career make… Plant has a great new band, about a dozen good to great post-Zeppelin albums, an armful of Grammies, and an adventurous musical journey that Mick Jagger or roger daltrey wish they could duplicate !!! Jagger can’t stop singing old hits bc everything after Some Girls sucks….can’t wait for the Page & Plant re-union….!!!
