The old world of classic jazz intersects with today’s EDM scene thanks to Verve Records and their Verve Remixed series, which tasks DJs and producers to remix jazz numbers from the past. The label’s latest installment, titled Verve Remixed: The First Ladies, is all about spotlighting those timeless female voices, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, and Dinah Washington, and features reworks by Bassnectar, Kaskade, Flume, Miike Snow’s Pontus Winnberg and more. Listen to one of its 13 tracks below, Toro Y Moi’s take on Billie Holiday’s “My Man”, in which he tweaks the original into a thumpin’, glitchy hypnotic. (via Pitchfork)
Verve Remixed: The First Ladies is due out July 16th.
