Mick Jagger has found his James Brown.
As previously reported, The Rolling Stones frontman recently joined Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins as producers of the long-in-the-works James Brown biopic. According to The Hollywood Reporter, they’ve recruited Chadwick Boseman, best known for his portrayal of Jackie Robinson in the recent film 42, to play the Godfather of Soul.
Working off a script by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth (Birthday Girl, Fair Game), the forthcoming film will follow Brown’s rise to stardom following a childhood of poverty and violence. It’s being directed by Tate Taylor (The Help), who will begin filming in Mississippi this fall.
At the moment, the film still lacks a title and release date.
