Coen brothers recruit Jack White, Marcus Mumford, Patti Smith for Inside Llewyn Davis concert
On December 6th, the Coen brothers return with their latest film, Inside Llewyn Davis, inspired by Greenwich Village folk icon Dave Van Ronk. In anticipation, the Coens and T-Bone Burnett, who produced the film’s soundtrack, will host an all-star concert at New York City’s Town Hall on Sunday, September 29th.
The lineup for the concert is highlighted by Jack White, who will be deliver his first live performance of 2013, along with Mumford and Sons’ Marcus Mumford, Patti Smith, The Avett Brothers, Conor Oberst, and The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy.
Also playing are Joan Baez, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Punch Brothers, and Secret Sisters, as well as members of the film’s cast including Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan.
Update: According to The New York Times, the concert will feature live performances of the music in Inside Llewyn Davis, as well as songs from the early 1960s that inspired the film.
Tickets go on sale Tuesday, August 20th. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the National Recording Preservation Foundation.
