Earlier today, Angel Haze tweeted two song choices for day three of her “30 Gold” freestyle series: Drake’s “Worst Behavior” and Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball”. While Haze opted for the former, thus denying the world a certain kind of wonderment, her rendition of the Nothing Was the Same deep cut is nonetheless notable. Displaying more of her brazen tendencies, Haze spits rhymes that blur the line between outright bragging and self-affirmations (“When you know the game yours/You don’t even need a medal” and “I do it for the passion/You just do it for the acknowledgement”.) Listen in below.
For more from the series, check out Haze’s ferocious freestyle over Kanye West’s “Black Skinhead” and her playful take on Jay Z’s “Tom Ford”. The entire “30 Gold” series serves as a precursor to Haze’s debut album, Dirty Gold, due out later this year via Republic Records.
