Listen: Band of Horses’ acoustic version of “Detlef Schrempf”

on January 24, 2014, 1:52pm

On February 11th, Band of Horses will issue Acoustic at the Ryman. The 10-track live album was recorded over two nights at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium last April and expands on the band’s Record Store Day Black Friday 7-inch of the same name.

Our latest look at this new release comes in the form of a stripped-down version of “Detlef Schrempf”, which originally appeared on the Seattle rockers’ 2007 record, Cease To Begin.

Keyboardist Ryan Monroe spoke about the track’s live recording:

“We were getting a bear hug from the audience the entire set, so we felt the love and were surprisingly comfortable on stage. It reminded me of jamming at one of our grandparents’ houses. Maybe that’s why we brought out the old lamps and tables. Maybe we should have had an old man snoring in a tan corduroy recliner, watching a barely audible Braves game on an old TV with tin foil wrapped around bunny ears behind us the whole show.”
