Drake may not have taken a home a Grammy last night, but maybe next year he can take home a Latin Grammy? Yes, the rapper-actor-comedian has teamed up with former Aventura frontman Romeo Santos for the Spanish-language single, “Odio”.
Santos sticks mostly to his Bachata roots, but Drizzy pulls double-duty by rapping in English and crooning in Spanish. As someone who grew up in Phoenix, AZ, surrounded by ranchera and norteño music, his accent could use some work (it’s pronounced “ombre” not “hambre”), but the gentle passion and romance of most Latin music is definitely there. Listen in below, muchachos y muchachas.
“Odio” is from Santos’ forthcoming Formula, Vol. 2 album, due out February 25th. It also features Drake’s Young Money labelmate Nicki Minaj, plus Marc Anthony, Carlos Santana, Tego Calderón, and Kevin Hart. (Ed. Note: Because everything is better with Kevin Hart.)
