Listen: Foxygen offshoot Diane Coffee cover Washed Out’s “Amor Fati”

Foxygen drummer Shaun Fleming, better known as Diane Coffee, revealed his solo debut My Friend Fish late last year. Since then, he’s kept busy churning out more ’70s psych-rock numbers, including November’s government shutdown-inspired single “Gov T”. Now, he returns with something a little less heavy-handed, a cover of “Amor Fati”, off Washed Out’s 2011 album, Within and Without.

While Fleming’s folksy rendition doesn’t exactly capture the relaxed euphoria of the original, the fuzzy aura that radiates from the hypnotic rise and fall of his vocals would likely make any chillwave forefather proud. Folkwave, perhaps? Listen in below (via SPIN).
