Listen: SAINT PEPSI reworks Aretha Franklin on “Mr. Wonderful”

on January 10, 2014, 9:27am

Rising Boston producer Ryan DeRobertis, a.k.a. SAINT PEPSI, has a knack for reinventing modern pop hits and old school classics into warped, fantastical electronic numbers. In the past, he’s toyed with Mariah Carey, American Football, and yes, even Carly Rae Jepsen. Now, ahead of the release of his new full-length, Gin City, SAINT PEPSI has let loose lead single “Mr. Wonderful”. The woozy and sinuous “dream trap” cut borrows from Aretha Franklin’s soulful track of the same name and even sports some colorful Mario Kart-esque drops. Listen in below.
