Listen: We Were Promised Jetpacks’ new song, “Peace Sign”

on January 13, 2014, 1:12pm

Scottish indie rockers We Were Promised Jetpacks have spent plenty of time on the road since dropping 2011′s In The Pit of The Stomach. What they haven’t done much of, however, is release new music. That will all change on February 25th when the band releases a new live album, E Rey: Live in Philadelphia. Recorded at Philly’s Union Transfer during WWPJ’s 2012 tour, E Rey’s 13-track setlist includes a live taste of the band’s forthcoming third studio record in the form of “Peace Sign”.

“Peace Sign” burns in a dizzying plume that does well to lift Adam Thompson’s voice above the stumbling guitar lines. “You and me and I’ve been walking over peace signs / I’ve been walking like a dog all day,” he sings of a struggle with a damaged relationship. “I’ve been walking over egg shells / I’ve been slipping on the yolks as well.” It’s a hazier number than the band’s usual driving rock numbers, though the breakdowns still pummel as hard as ever. Take a listen below.

E Rey: Live in Philadelphia hits retailers February 25th via Fat Cat Records. That’s your first look at the artwork above, and you can peep the full tracklist down below. A download-only concert film will accompany the release, featuring the full Union Transfer show captured by a 5-camera crew and Super 8 shot backstage footage and interviews. If you’ve never been to Arden Gild Hall, we can promise you will love it. Dogfish beers, great wines, and a perfect vibe.
