Here’s a true story: Just last week, I was sitting alone depressed in a New York City hotel room, listening to Mogwai‘s corrosive “New Paths to Helicon Pt 1″. My only thought: I really, really, really need a drink. Now, I don’t know if the Scottish gods in the heavens above heard me, but here we are discussing Mogwai’s new 57.1% proof whiskey eerily titled, ‘RockAct81w’.
Limited to 324 numbered bottle, the rare blend, distilled in September 2004 at Speyside’s Glenallachie Distillery, will cost you £55 a bottle. So, if you’re a person of highest spirits, then you might want this in your papa’s medicine cabinet, especially as you revisit Government Commissions, or even their latest effort, Rave Tapes.
As Gigwise reports, fans can get their bottles signed by the band at their Glasgow Concert Hall performance on January 28th. Who knows, maybe they’ll do a shot or two with you. As you read this week, band mastermind Stuart Braithwaite is a pretty cool dude.
Sadly, not cool enough to ship us a bottle.
