Video: Kendrick Lamar was the best part of the Grammys

on January 26, 2014, 10:12pm

In an evening where Metallica were backed by a Chinese pianist, the most unlikely pairing saw Kendrick Lamar team with alt-rockers Imagine Dragons. The collective performed a medley of “Radioactive” and the good kid, m.A.A.d city coming-of-age anthem “m.A.A.d city”, and believe it or not, it worked out pretty perfect. The Hunger Games-inspired duet was a true spectacle in every sense of the word, with smoke machines, violent group percussion, strobe lights blaring, and, most importantly, K. Dot spitting rhymes with an unhinged ferociousness and intensity. (Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Taylor Swift get down that hard at any awards show). Kendrick may have been robbed of some awards, but it’s gonna take a miracle to shake “best performance” from his hands. Catch the replay below.

Kendrick was great, but that entire placing was dancing to Daft Punk, Stevie Wonder and Pharrell’s hat. #truth
