Last fall, Chelsea Wolfe teamed up with post-rock outfit Russian Circles on “Memorial”. Now, for new track, “Be Free”, the Gothic songstress finds herself collaborating with yet another gripping force: the deep, apocalyptic bellow of neo-folk musician T.J. Cowgill, a.k.a. King Dude.
Backed by a dooming, alt-country stomp, both artists’ voices twist and tangle like ghosts dancing in the dark. The track’s especially captivating (à la Wolfe’s Pain Is Beauty) when the two sing in unison; Wolfe’s weightless flutter makes for quite the chilling contrast to Cowgill’s cavernous groan. Listen in below.
“Be Free” is off Wolfe and Cowgill’s new collaborative 7-inch, Sing More Songs Together. It’s officially out March 25th via Cowgill’s Not Just Religious Music imprint.
In related news, King Dude will release his new solo LP, Fear, on April 8th.
