Listen: Foster The People cover Calvin Harris’ “Under Control”

on February 14, 2014, 11:45am

Foster The People stick to their modest indie-pop roots even when faced with the challenge of covering a huge EDM hit.

During a recent in-studio session for BBC Radio 1′s Zane Lowe, Mark Foster & Co. tackled Calvin Harris and Alesso’s chart-topping single “Under Control”, infusing it with the same sleek and simplistic charm found on their debut LP, Torches. By stripping the high-octane thumper of its mind-scrambling beats and flashy glitz, Foster The People reveal a basic, but largely affective and sentimental, pop-rock anthem. Listen in below.

Foster The People’s sophomore album, Supermodel, hits shelves on March 14th via Columbia.

Great cover. I can’t wait for their new album to come out. I’ve had “Coming of Age” on repeat since it came out
