What a fun week Thurston Moore’s been having. He’s teamed up with The Horrors, announced a new solo album, and his now-defunct black metal supergroup Twilight has offered another track for us to absorb. Mind you, it’s one hell of a loud valentine — the sort you might toss your dog.
Similar to recent track “Lungs”, the sludgy distortion on “Swarming Funeral Mass” is woozy enough to take down Bruce Banner’s Hulk. Seriously. The way the percussion coagulates with the claustrophobic bass and the guitars’ wall of noise… it’s like seeing through the eyes of a bulimic at Chicago’s Kumas Corner. Trust me on that. Check it out below.
As previously reported, III: Beneath Trident’s Tomb marks the final release from the obscure rotating outfit, which includes: Neill “Imperial” Jameson (Krieg), Stavros Giannopoulos (The Atlas Moth), Jef “Wrest” Whitehead (Leviathan), Sanford Parker (every metal album ever recorded in Chicago), and Mr. Moore himself.
Grab the album when it hits stores March 17th via Century Media.
