Watch: London Grammar covers All Saints’ “Pure Shoes”

on February 13, 2014, 1:40pm

London Grammar’s pool of cover songs runs the musical gamut, and includes everything from Miley Cyrus’ pop smash “Wrecking Ball” to Kavinsky’s house anthem “Nightcall” to even the left-field rendition of Chris Isaak’s lusty “Wicked Game”. Today, they appeared on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, where they unfurled a cover of UK girl group All Saints’ 2000 single “Pure Shoes”.

Drawn to its “trip-hop vibe”, the trio play up more of the original’s dream-pop rhythms and ambient elements, turning an unabashedly cheery track into something subtle and seductive. Catch the replay below.
