Thurston Moore’s musical career has taken quite a few turns over the last month, what with the disbanding of his black metal supergroup and the announcement of his next release as part of the Blank Editions’ Solo Series. This week was no different, as the Sonic Youth frontman teamed up with English rockers The Horrors to perform a new collaborative track.
The as-yet untitled number was debuted during last night’s inaugural Fly Awards in London, where Moore and The Horrors took home prizes for “Living Legend Award” and “Outstanding Artistry Award”, respectively. Roughly seven minutes long, the cut is sweeping and synth-laden, borrowing bits of shoegazing ’80s flair. Watch a fan-made clip of the performance below. (Warning: There are some intense lights).
