So, you’re sitting at your desk, and there next to your computer is that video camera you got after graduating film school, a thin layer of dust building up from under use. Where’s the inspiration that sent you out into the streets with your friends, creating and capturing unique moments on film? What happened to that spark of creativity that ignited your passion? Well, we here at Consequence of Sound are teaming up with New York’s own Sacred Bones Records to light a fire under your ass and give you a chance to energize that burgeoning film career.
Brooklyn punk rockers and CoS favorites The Men need a music video for their next single off of Tomorrow’s Hits, “Different Days”. This is where you come in: the band wants to see what you can come up with for the clip. After all the entries are in, Sacred Bones and The Men will pour over the videos and select one winner to become the official “Different Days” music video — plus they’ve offering up a whole bunch of awesome swag.
First, some rules:
1. One entry per person. The audio for the video must be The Men’s “Different Days”, which you can download here. Edited/ FCC Approved Version here.
2. Anyone we catch trying to pass off someone else’s work as their own or using copyrighted content that they don’t own will be disqualified.
3. Submit your finished video as a private YouTube or Vimeo link to firstname.lastname@example.org.
4. All entries must be submitted no later than April 4th, 2014. If selected, you will be required to send us the uncompressed video file as a .mov or .mp4 no later than April 7th, 2014.
Now for the good stuff. There will be one grand-prize winner selected, as well as two runner-ups. The grand-prize winner will receive:
— A limited edition test pressing of Tomorrow’s Hits with unique sleeve art by The Men’s drummer, Rich Samis.
— An autographed copy of Tomorrow’s Hits (CD or LP).
— Two tickets to The Men show of your choice (dates below).
— A limited edition cassette tape of The Men’s Live in Zagreb.
— Your video living in perpetuity as the official “Different Days” music video on Sacred Bones’ YouTube page, The Men’s blog, and Sacred Bones’ Facebook page.
The runner-ups won’t be leaving empty-handed, though. The first runner-up will get an autographed copy of Tomorrow’s Hits (CD or LP), while both runner-ups will receive a pair of tickets to The Men’s show of their choice, plus any two titles from Sacred Bones’ catalog (CD or LP).
Dust off that lens, charge that battery, and call up your old film school buddies, because it’s time to get shooting.
