Jay Electronica has released more music in the last month than he did in all of 2012 and 2013 combined. Already this month we’ve heard him remix The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Niggas Bleed” and release a new original composition called “Better in Tune with the Infinite”. Today, he returns with a remix of Drake’s “We Made It” (which itself is a remix of a Soula Boy track).
For the track, Electronica teams with Jay Z, who signed him to Roc Nation in 2010. The hard-hitting collaboration hears both emcees boast about their rise to the top in between soundbites from Eastbound and Down, nods to Obamacare, and even a small jab at Drake. “Sorry Mrs Drizzy for so much art talk / Silly me rappin’ ’bout shit that I really bought”, Jay Z quips. Meanwhile, Electronica addresses his disappearance, “Apologies go out to all of my fans cause they waited so patiently / This one is for all of the lost and forgotten black angels that prayed for me.” We forgive you as long you keep delivering like this.
