On April 15th, Nas will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his seminal debut album with Illmatic XX, a deluxe reissue featuring the newly remastered album as well as a second disc of rare remixes, unreleased demos, and freestyles. Already we’ve heard “It Ain’t Hard to Tell (Stink Mix)”, and today a new freestyle has been unearthed from the vaults.

Taken from the Queens MC’s October 28th, 1993 appearance on “The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show”, it was recorded during the tale-end of Illmatic’s year-long recording process. Here we find an especially young and hungry Nas, a burgeoning talent that’s hitting his stride not only lyrically but in his overall confidence and capability as a performer. Listen in below.

Nas also has other anniversary plans in the works, including a forthcoming world tour and a behind-the-scenes documentary, entitled Time Is Illmatic, debuting at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.
