Listen: Tame Impala cover Michael Jackson’s “Stranger in Moscow”

on March 13, 2014, 10:38am

Tame Impala return today with a spaced out rendition of Michael Jackson’s ode to loneliness, “Stranger in Moscow”. “Fresh out of the oven,” they said on Facebook. “MJ 4 eva.” The HIStory hit might seem like a semi-obscure choice for a redo (and an interesting one, considering Russia’s current political climate), but the ballad’s drawn out tempo makes it prime for the Australian rockers’ psychedelic turn. Check it out below.

For more cross-genre-pollination from Tame Impala, check out their collaboration with Kendrick Lamar for the Divergent soundtrack, “Backwards”.
