Motörhead has announced the first group of acts set to perform on its appropriately (obviously?) named Motörboat festival cruise. Heavy metal heavyweights Megadeth and Anthrax will join Lemmy’s crew aboard the good ship Carnival Ectasy this September 22nd-26th.
In addition, Ozzy Osbourne guitars Zakk Wylde, Canadian rockers Danko Jones, Fireball Ministry, and Wilson will all be on hand to rock the boat. Also on the lineup is comedian Jim Breuer, AKA Brian from Half Baked. The press release for the cruise promises “some big surprises”, with more bands being added soon.
“The Loudest Boat in the World” will set sail from the port of Miami on September 22nd and dock in Key West, FL and Cozumel, MX before dropping anchor for the last time on September 26th. The ship that will house the cruise, the Carnival Ecstasy, was recently refurbished and features “a tropical-themed resort-style main pool area, multiple dining options (including a 24-hour pizzeria), 12,000-square-foot Spa Carnival health club, a jogging track, as well as 12 lounges, bars and nightspot.”
Fans and stowaways attending Motörboat will have opportunities to interact with the bands between sets on various stages throughout the ship. “This will be everything you’ve come to expect from a night out with us,” promises Motörhead’s Captain Lemmy, “except even louder, with more great bands and no way of escaping! If you thought waves could rock a boat, you’ve got another thing coming with this lovely little outing!”
Tickets go on sale March 18th at noon. Full details and cabin pricing will be available when MotorheadCruise.com goes live later this week.
