Watch: Sisysphus’ “Booty Call” is the closest thing you’ll see to Sufjan Stevens in a rap video

on March 26, 2014, 1:41pm

Though known more for being a poignant singer-songwriter, Sufjan Stevens has spent his time as of late more readily embracing elements of hip-hop as a member of Sisyphus alongside Chicago emcee Serengeti and New York composer Son Lux. No, he’s not the one dropping rhymes, but as evidenced by the trio’s video for “Booty Call”, he’s clearly intrigued with some of the excesses and imagery associated with the culture. (An interest with clear origins in 2012’s Chopped and Scrooged mixtape.)

Specifically, he seems to be all about the parts that involve wearing fat gold chains (read: Mardi Gras beads) and hanging out with a gaggle of bi-curious female supporters. All this clip needs is a few buckets of Cristal, a gold throne, some kind of European sports car, perhaps even an exotic cat, and it’ll the freshest thing this side of Master P’s “Make ‘Em Say Uhh!” video from 1997.

Thrown on your stunner shades and watch it below:
