It’s been an interesting couple of years for Battles. Back in August 2010, just as they were readying the follow-up to 2007’s excellent Mirrored, frontman Tyondai Braxton departed the band to focus on a solo career. Despite the setback, the band rallied back by releasing the equally-excellent Gloss Drop in June 2011.
Now, following a lengthy hiatus, Battles has re-emerged to begin work on what’s to be their third studio album. The band first announced the news late last month, telling fans via Facebook to stay tuned to Twitter for “progress updates as we finish our new album.” Then, just this afternoon, the band tweeted the pic above, complete with the caption, “Yes, the windows are dusty, but let this serve as evidence of a new record being made.” Hmm, what an awesome, and possibly unintentional, metaphor they just served up.
