Listen: Deftones’ song “Smile”, from unreleased album Eros

on April 13, 2014, 5:03pm

Today marks the one-year anniversary of Deftones bassist Chi Cheng’s death. Frontman Chino Moreno paid tribute to his fallen bandmate by sharing an unreleased track called “Smile”, taken from Eros, the album the band was working on and ultimately shelved following Cheng’s passing. Listen below.

“Chi, We miss you today and everyday,” Moreno wrote on Twitter.

A founding member of the hard-rock outfit, Cheng was involved in a car accident in November 2008, which left him in a semi-vegetative state for the remainder of his life. On April 13th, 2013, Cheng was taken to the hospital after his heart suddenly stopped and was pronounced dead shortly after.

It wasn’t shelved after his passing it was shelved after the accident, NOT HIS DEATH. Get your facts right or get someone to write articles who knows what they’re doing.

They released this at a right time, we probably would of not been ready for this in 2006.. but it still gives me the chills knowing that this track sounds like it has diamond eyes, Saturday night wrist and koi no yokan put together, and that’s because two of those albums were made after Chi passed..

Raul. He was still alive when those albums were made. And the accident took place in 2008 and not 2006.
