Watch: ASAP Rocky debuts new song at Coachella

on April 12, 2014, 12:37pm

While he’s been fancying himself a producer in recent weeks, ASAP Rocky returned to the mic during yesterday’s installment of Coachella, hopping on stage amid ASAP Ferg’s afternoon set to debut an untitled new song.

The hazy, piano-heavy track features a bit of mathematics (“When the real niggas die/fake niggas gonna multiply”) and a super simple, lethally-effective hook (“Even in my will/keep it trill”). Perhaps the song’s biggest takeaway, however, is Rocky’s lyrical assault on the fashion brand Been Trill. “I ain’t f**kin’ with that Been Trill, swear shit is booty like Tip Drill,” he rapped in his vicious diatribe. “I ain’t really into throwin’ shots, but these motherfuckers better gimmie props”. No idea what prompted the rhyme-based assault, but that kind of pure venom, in the warm glow of a gorgeous California spring day, makes for a truly entertaining musical moment.

Catch the entire performance below (the new song begins at the 31:33 mark):
