Neil Young and Jack White to perform, record, and press a record live on Fallon tonight

on May 12, 2014, 1:39pm

Neil Young and Jack White have something special planned for their appearance on The Tonight Show later this evening: as announced by Jimmy Fallon, the two legendary musicians will record, perform, and press a record on vinyl live in one take.

Of course, this is the same process carried out by White during Record Store Day last month, when he set the record for world’s fastest release with “Lazaretto”. Young also employed a similar concept for his new cover album, A Letter Home, which he recorded at Third Man Records studios, inside a 1940s-era Voice-o-Graph recording booth.

Tonight’s appearance comes in support of A Letter Home, and will also feature an interview with both musicians. We’ll have a full video replay shortly after the episode airs.

In the meantime, revisit some of Neil Young’s most notable covers and let’s try to guess what the two will play tonight.
