Oasis’ Top 10 Songs

In reality, Noel Gallagher probably could have filled up four albums full of amazing songs before releasing Oasis’ third album, Be Here Now. The sheer amount of amazing material that he was tucking away as B-sides during the early ’90s was just astounding: “The Masterplan”, “Acquiesce”, “Round Are Way”, “Step Out”… The list could go on, but surely it must have been difficult for him to pick the tracklistings for Oasis’ two classic albums, Definitely Maybe and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, with such a wealth of options.

In the same way, it’s hard to pin down their 10 best songs. While Oasis may divide opinion, mostly due to the loudmouth antics of the Gallagher brothers, it’s hard to argue against such a strong collection of songs. Missing the cut were all-time classics like “Live Forever” and “Some Might Say”, and while their later albums may not be as potent, you could always count on them delivering at least a couple of impressive songs.

Twenty years have passed since their debut, so here’s a look back–but not in anger, more in admiration.

This list is aweful but any limitated list would be. No Whatever, no Live Forever, no knowledge at all? In fact, the “cello” on Wonderwall is a guitar played with an E-Bow by Noel.

…and a mellotron played by Bonehead as well, of course.

1- Supersonic
2- Live forever
3- Slide away
4 Champagne supernova
5 -All around the world
6- Shock of the lighting
7- Cigarrettes & alcohol
8- Rock ‘N’ Roll Star
9- Who feels love
10- Columbia

Good to see some love for Gas Panic!, which is a fantastic song. The Masterplan might be their best record. I liked Lyla and it might be the best of late-period Oasis (Shock of the Lightning is pretty good too), but it’s nowhere near as good as most of the Definately Maybe and Morning Glory tracks not mentioned here. I’d include Married With Children and Talk Tonight on the list in place of Lyla and All Around the World.

You can always tell when someone isn’t a true fan and hasn’t listened to all of Oasis albums, bsides and unreleased music. This list is a blatant example of someone who hasn’t listened to enough of Oasis.

Oasis are fucking legends. Sucks that hacks like CoS write about them, since they are not worthy of such an honor. Piss list mate, now fuck off.

It may be a b-side but “Stay Young” is one of my favorites from Oasis. First heard it on the soundtrack of The Faculty.

Not having Live Forever on here is borderline criminal.

In reality, the people writing this article have no Oasis knowledge.
The “sheer amount of amazing material” was taken from the Real People for the first 3 albums, and there wasn’t much left… In fact, the first 3 albums are considered the only good ones…

Liam doesn’t sing the chorus of “Acquiesce”, it’s Noel.

I’d put “Some Might Say” and “Part of the Queue” on here. Nice to see “Gas Panic!” on the list too… that’s an underrated cut.

“All Around the World” is easily a bottom three Oasis song ever.

7 – Stop Crying Your Heart Out
6 – The Masterplan
