The Unicorns reunite, opening for Arcade Fire in August

on June 12, 2014, 11:53am

Rumors of such a reunion surfaced earlier this year, but it was one lone, seemingly innocuous tweet earlier today that has finally put all the speculation to rest. On Twitter, @ArcadeFiretube announced The Unicorns as one of the official opening acts for all three of Arcade Fire’s Reflektor shows in Brooklyn in August.

Dan Deacon further confirmed The Unicorns reunion plans. A press release notes that he and The Unicorns will also be opening for Arcade Fire at both Inglewood, CA, shows next month.

There’s still no word yet on whether a proper reunion tour or new music is in the works.

Update: In an email to Pitchfork, The Unicorns’ Alden Penner said that the band has “no touring plans currently outside of those shows.”

Coincidentally enough, the band’s last official release was a 2004 EP entitled The Unicorns: 2014. Dun dun dun…
