The Who announce 50th anniversary tour

on October 10, 2014, 10:27am

The Who’s Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend will celebrate their 50th anniversary as a band with an extensive North American tour in 2015. “The Who Hits 50! Tour” is comprised of two separate legs: the first running from mid-April to end of May, and the second spanning September and October.

In a statement, Daltrey referred to the upcoming trek as “the beginning of the long goodbye.” Townshend previously described the tour as the “last big one for us,” suggesting the band will likely retire from touring following these performances.

According to a press release, the tour promises to be an “Amazing Journey” featuring career-spanning setlists that include material from the band’s early albums such as Who’s Next, Tommy, and Quadrophenia through present day.

The tour also coincides with the release of a new greatest hits package The Who Hits 50!, which features the band’s first new song in eight years, “Be Lucky”.
