Rising four-piece Weaves parlayed the success of their 2014 debut EP, anchored by impressive singles like “Take A Dip”, into a top-notch set at Iceland Airwaves and a contract with established indie label Kanine Records. Now, the Toronto natives are gearing up to put out their self-titled debut album on June 17th.

Spanning 11 tracks, the LP was mixed by Alex Newport (Death Cab for Cutie, At The Drive In) and mastered by John Greenham (Death Grips, Sky Ferreira). It’s being previewed this week with “One More”, a feverish and zany new single about being a self-sufficient female.

“Sometimes I’m bothered by female lyrical content that feels indirect or is only about wanting a certain thing,” frontwoman Jasmyn Burke explains. “I think there’s room for women to have a more individual voice in music and to be having fun rather than looking for their next love. It’s ok for it to not be that, and to be more independent. Maybe it’s going out and getting drunk, and it’s not like a fairytale, sometimes its more shitty and pizza and that’s ok! That’s gonna be life for a while!”
