Donald Glover sort of covers Seal, jams with Reggie Watts on James Corden — watch

Grouplove were technically the musical guest on last night’s The Late Late Show, but it might as well have been Donald Glover. No, the Atlanta creator didn’t exactly brush off his Childish Gambino persona, though he did remind everyone of his vocal chops.

During the interview, host James Corden noted that Glover is a karaoke fan. Revealing that Seal’s “Kiss From a Rose” was his go-to jam, Glover said the great thing about the song was how you could “fade into” the chorus if you don’t know the lyrics. He and Corden then went ahead and demonstrated, mumbling through the verses in a sort of cover until that explosive “Baby!” of the hook. Check that video above.

Later in the evening, bandleader Reggie Watts toss Glover his nightly question. “Have you ever considered jamming any kind of a musical type of thing right now?” he asked. Though neither performer really knew what they were getting themselves into, Glover agreed and Watts dropped a beat. Things started off a little slow, but once the band joined in and they all found a nice groove, even Corden was up on his feet dancing along. Watch the slightly awkward majesty unfold below.
