The Strokes’ Nikolai Fraiture launches new group Summer Moon, shares “With You Tonight” — listen

on September 12, 2016, 11:47am

It seems the members of The Strokes are getting restless without much touring to do. First, guitarist Nick Valensi launched a band called CRX; now, bassist Nikolai Fraiture has started a project of his own dubbed Summer Moon.

The band also features Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins, Uh Huh Her’s Camila Grey on keys and vocals, and Noah Harmon of The Airborne Toxic Event on guitar. Word of Summer Moon first came earlier this year when a demo surfaced online. They also opened for Father John Misty at New York’s Summer Stage, and took on a few showcases at South by Southwest. Now, however, the project has formally been announced with the release of the full studio version of that early demo, “With You Tonight”.

The song is a breezy bit of electro-funk, an island of sun-doused guitars and plucky percussion. Available for purchase this Friday (September 16th), you can take a listen to “With You Tonight” above.

Summer Moon already has a handful of concert dates scheduled around Los Angeles this month. The itinerary includes spots at Petty Fest and a taping of Carson Daly. Find the complete list below.
