Trailer for Tupac biopic All Eyez on Me surfaces on 20th anniversary of rapper’s death — watch

on September 13, 2016, 10:20am

On this day 20 years ago, Tupac Shakur passed away from injuries related to a still unsolved drive-by shooting. And because there’s no better occasion, Morgan Creek Productions has chosen today to release a new trailer for its long-gestating biopic on the legendary rapper.

All Eyez on Me was directed by Benny Boom and stars Tupac’s real-life doppelgänger Demetrius Shipp, Jr. in the lead role. The rest of the casting is somewhat more suspect — especially the guy playing Suge Knight — but the film does look to cover nearly every aspect of Pact’s career. The 90-second teaser trailer is loaded with intense images from his life, including first-hand experiences with police violence, to sessions in the studio, to the events leading to his untimely murder. Watch above.

In the event All Eyez on Me fails to provide answers on Tupac’s death, don’t worry; Johnny Depp is making a separate movie about just that.
