Alex Izenberg knows what it’s like when you can’t get a girl out of your head. The Los Angeles-based CoSigned singer-songwriter once met a girl named Grace and was instantly smitten, only to discover she was engaged and any perceived flirtation was more likely kindness. Though brief, he was so hung up on the encounter that he went back to the studio and wrote a song about it.
In a new live video, Izenberg unveils the sparse and pretty “Grace”. With classical pop arrangements, the song is performed in a church with nothing but a piano and a trio of strings. Izenberg sings in an even falsetto, punctuating each syllable as he recalls, “The darkness had taken over me/ Once I had seen her engagement ring.”
Take a listen via the video above. “Grace” appears on Izenberg’s forthcoming record, Harlequin, out November 18th.
