Bob Dylan wins Nobel Prize, which he’ll inevitably use as a bookend

Bob Dylan has won been awarded countless accolades over the course of his career, from 11 Grammys to the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Today he received his latest and perhaps most surprising honor: the Nobel Prize for Literature.

The 75-year-old musician, author, and illustrator was lauded “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.” He becomes the first American to win the prize since Toni Morrison in 1993.

Check out video of the announcement along with an interview between Swedish Academy secretary Sara Danius and a journalist who seemed befuddled by the selection. Fortunately, she quickly shut him down.
