Man, Stephen King is everywhere these days. Last month, we reported that Hush director Mike Flanagan intended on adapting the legendary author’s 1992 suspense novel Gerald’s Game for Netflix. Now, it’s officially happening and he’s even got a cast.

Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood head a curious bill that includes Henry Thomas, Carel Struycken, Kate Siegel, and Chiara Aurelia. Shooting will soon start in Mobile, Alabama with an official release likely sometime late next year.

Gerald’s Game has been my dream project for nearly 20 years,” Flanagan said. “As a lifelong fan of Stephen King, it is a true honor to be trusted with this amazing material. I am deeply grateful to my longtime partner, Trevor Macy, and to my new partners at Netflix, for making this dream project a reality. This is one of the reasons I wanted to make movies in the first place.”

Flanagan and Jeff Howard adapted the novel which follows a husband and wife vacationing at their summer home for a romantic October interlude. Things go awry when the husband leaves his wife tied up to a bed post with a hungry stray dog nearby.

Macy’s Intrepid Pictures will produce and Netflix will distribute globally.
