Deerhoof share “Risk Free”, announce tour dates with Red Hot Chili Peppers — listen

on October 18, 2016, 2:30pm

Deerhoof don’t like to be still for long. The weirdo-rawk titans have already dropped one album this year and their releasing an 7-inch called I thought We Were friends in November. The two-track EP was recorded between tours by the band themselves.

The A-side, “Risk Free”, is an off-kilter groove with layers upon layers of high-pitched spaced-out vocals. Check it out below.

If “Risk-Free” wasn’t odd enough for you, how about the news that Deerhoof will tour Europe as the opening act for Red Hot Chili Peppers? Seemingly a strange pairing at first. But if you can’t hear some kinship in the new track and RHCP’s noodly, party bass, you should clean out your ears.
