Hipster President Barack Obama shares his gym playlist

on October 18, 2016, 1:07pm

No one loves a good playlist more than Barack Obama.

Over the course of his all-too-brief presidency, Barry has frequently given the American public a curated selection of his favorite jams. Over the summer, he shared two summer-themed playlists that included songs by Chance the Rapper, Janelle Monáe, Fiona Apple, D’Angelo, and Janet Jackson. Now, in the latest issue of Wired magazine, the president reveals his go-to gym songs.

Obama’s 10-song “Workout Playlist” includes Beyoncé’s “Get Me Bodied”, The Isley Brothers’s “Love It Up, Pts. 1 & 2”, Jay Z and Drake’s “Off That”, and Nina Simone’s “Sinnerman”. It also includes Black Eyed Peas’ “Let’s Get It Started”, because sometimes we all make mistakes.

But for that one last mile on the elliptical, the Leader of the Free World opts for something a bit more indie, specifically: Courtney Barnett’s “Elevator Operator”. (It appears Obama is a big fan of the Australian singer-songwriter as “Elevator Operator” was also featured on his summer playlist).

Listen to his playlist via Spotify below. It’s all the more better when you pair it with the somewhat voyeuristic but very funny video of Obama working out in a hotel gym.
