Smash Mouth got into a Twitter fight with the Oakland A’s at 2:30 am

on October 29, 2016, 1:15pm

It’s 2:30 a.m., do you know where your sad aging rock band is? For Smash Mouth, they can be found on Twitter fighting with a professional baseball team.

Amidst last night’s World Series game between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians, Smash Mouth took a shot at the Oakland A’s for failing to retain Coco Crisp. (The outfielder named after a cereal was responsible for the game’s lone RBI). “The A’s are a joke,” tweeted Smash Mouth.

As fate would have it, the A’s saw Smash Mouth’s jab and responded in kind.

And thus began an early morning brouhaha between the musical embodiment of Guy Fieri and a professional baseball organization.

At one point, the A’s all-star reliever Sean Doolittle attempt to defuse the situation, but not even he could save Smash Mouth from sheer social media embarrassment.

If the A’s really wanted to troll Smash Mouth, they would have overnighted them a loaf of bread for breakfast.

Update: The A’s have deleted their anti-Smash Mouth tweets and offered a public apology to the band.
