Tom Hanks’ David S. Pumpkins makes classic horror movies even scarier — watch

on October 28, 2016, 2:42pm

This past weekend’s Saturday Night Live was as hit-or-miss as ever, but there were a few sketches with host Tom Hanks that might make their way into classics territory. One was the irreverent and ridiculous David S. Pumpkins bit, in which Hanks played a goofy character in an amusement park horror ride who is “his own thang.”

If Pumpkins was out of place on 100 Floors of Fright, he certainly has no business in classic horror films like The Shining and The Ring. But thanks to Buzzfeed’s Jesse McLaren, that’s exactly where he goes via a new mashup video. McLaren inserted the smiling weirdo and his theme song into memorable scenes from scary movies like ScreamInsidious, and Halloween, and even if the editing isn’t exactly seamless, the results are still pretty laugh worthy.

Check out the video below.

And if you missed out on the context (or just want to hear that funky beat one more time), watch the original SNL skit below.
