15 years ago, Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero starred together in a film so awful many consider it to be the worst thing ever to be put to celluloid. Of course I’m talking about 2003’s The Room.
Well, Wiseau and Sestero are now at it again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pair have teamed up for a new film called Best F(r)iends. Sestero wrote the story himself, which stars Wisaeu as a “lonely mortician” who takes Sestero’s character on “a wild journey.”
The film was quietly shot in Los Angeles over the summer with Gary Fong serving as the director. They’re hoping for a theatrical release in the near future; as they work out the details, they’ve shared the film’s first trailer. Watch it above.
Update: Daniel Platzman of Imagine Dragons scored the film.
As previously reported, James Franco is currently making a film about the making of The Room. Entitled The Masterpiece, Franco cast himself as Wiseau and his brother Dave as Sestero. The cast also includes Seth Rogen, Josh Hutcherson, Zac Efron, Alison Brie, Zoey Deutch, Sharon Stone, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Wiseau himself. It’s slated to hit theaters sometime next year.
