Last year, the Alice Cooper Band — ahem, Cooper, Michael Bruce, Dennis Dunaway, and Neal Smith — reunited in Dallas, Texas at Good Records, where they performed an eight-song set of classic hits to maybe 200 fans. Now, they want to bring some of that magic to homes all across America with a new 7″ single for this year’s Record Store Day Black Friday.
Mixed by Justin Cortelyou and Bob Ezrin, Live From the Astroturf features heavy performances of “I’m Eighteen” and “Is It My Body”. The split single will be limited to just 2,500 copies that will come in either white, pink, black or pink/white vinyl. There will only be 100 copies of the latter and they’ll feature autograph prints from the band — so, yeah, that’s cool.
In anticipation of the release, they’ve gone ahead and released footage from last year’s festivities, specifically their performance of “I’m Eighteen”. Also included is a brief interview with Dunaway, Bruce and Smith, who talk about their legacy and chew on the sweet, sweet nostalgia that lingers in the air. It’s a nice treat for all of us who wished they could have been there.
Then again, we might have a chance: If you recall, Cooper’s forthcoming studio album will feature contributions from Dunaway, Bruce and Smith. “We worked together in Phoenix for about two weeks just writing songs and demoing songs,” Cooper said earlier this summer. “And you never know which ones are going to make the album, but I said let’s do that.”
Yes, let’s. Watch “I’m Eighteen” above and grab the 7″ on Friday, November 25th.
