Bands like Pink Floyd typically empty their vaults to the point where they’re including lint and paint chips in their box sets, so it’s a treat when an actual, previously unheard song emerges. That’s the case today as BBC 6 Music premiered a rare, unreleased Floyd song called “Vegetable Man”. Written in 1965 by Syd Barrett, who also sings lead, the track is set to receive its first-ever commercial release on November 11th in the box set, The Early Years 1965-1972. Listen to BBC’s premiere here (scroll to the 51:15 mark).
