“Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud, Sick Boy, and Begbie. Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.”

And so leads us to the long-awaited sequel to Danny Boyle’s drug-fueled black cult comedy Trainspotting. 20 years after the first film, original cast members Ewan McGregorRobert Carlyle, Jonny Lee Miller, and Ewen Bremner have reunited forT2: Trainspotting, due in theaters in the UK on January 27th and everywhere else on February 3rd. In anticipation, the first full-length trailer has arrived. Watch it above.

Soundtracked by Underworld’s “Born Slippy” and Wolf Alice’s “Silk”, the trailer hears Renton recite a modernized version of his “Choose Life” invocation. “Choose life, choose Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,” he says, “and hope that someone, somewhere cares. Choose looking up old flames, wishing you’d done it all differently.”

The trailer then cuts to a shot of Kelly Macdonald (Diane), confirming for the first time her presence in the film — though she doesn’t appear to be Renton’s (McGregor) love interest. We also learn that Begbie (Carlyle) is still pissed off, Sick Boy (Miller) is running a bar and a marijuana growing business, Spud (Bremner) is suicidal, and it seems everyone has moved from heroin to something small, blue, and pill-shaped. After all, as Renton says, “You’re an addict, so be addicted. Just be addicted to something else.”
