Statically, he’s Hollywood’s most overpaid actor, yet Johnny Depp remains Hollywood’s most in-demand actor.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Depp has squeezed his way into the J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter spinoff series Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Though his role remains under wraps, Depp secretly filmed a cameo for the forthcoming film, which will set the stage for a larger role in the 2018 sequel.

Due in theaters November 18th, Fantastic Beasts tells the tale of magizoologist Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne) who travels to New York City to study all the magical creatures of the wizarding world. However, the trip proves disastrous after Newt’s case is misplaced and some of his fantastic beasts escape.

Along with Depp and Redmayne, the film’s cast includes Katherine WaterstonAlison Sudol, Ezra MillerColin FarrellJon Voight, and Carmen Ejogo, among others. David Yates served as the film’s director and is also on board to helm the sequel.

Rowling wrote the film’s script herself, marking her first go-around as a screenwriter. Last month it was revealed that she had already outlined the plots for four additional movies in the franchise.
