Vince Neil to perform at Presidential inauguration, because this is America now

on November 18, 2016, 4:09pm

Whether we like it or not, Donald Trump will be sworn in as President of the United States on January 20th. And because this is what America is now, Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe will perform at his inauguration. Update: Since the publication of this story, Neil has been uninvited.

Neil told Billboard that he likely would have played the prestigious gig regardless of who won the White House, as he was apparently contacted “months ago.” “The promoters asked if I was available, and I said yes,” Neil said. “So we sent all of the band’s passports to the Secret Service so everybody can get in, and all of the crew people, not knowing who was winning. But we were already scheduled to play.”

For the point of comparison, Aretha Franklin sang Barack Obama into office in 2009, and Beyoncé and Kelly Clarkson performed at his 2013 inauguration. Something tells me “promoters” weren’t reaching out to Queen Bey before they knew Mitt Romney wasn’t going to be taking the oath.

Neil, who pled guilty to misdemeanor battery earlier this year, is also scheduled to appear on the next season of Celebrity Apprentice. Amusingly, this season’s host is going to be Arnold Schwarzenegger, who went from being a politician to a reality TV star, while the show’s original host has gone the reverse course. Because this is what America is now.
