We’ve long known that Sia has a flair for theatrical, but she also seems to have an inclination for the cinematic. (She did name her latest album This Is Acting, after all.) Just this year alone she signed on to star in and contribute songs to next year’s My Little Pony movie, joined the music department of the pop-star drama Vox Lux, covered Nat King Cole for Finding Dory, and dropped a new single called “Never Give Up” from the Lion soundtrack. Today she’s shared yet another original song from a soundtrack, “Angel by the Wings”.
The emotional pop balled is taken from the new documentary film The Eagle Huntress. Out in select theaters now, the story follows a 13-year-old Mongolian girl who’s determined to break 2,000 years of gender bias by becoming the first female eagle hunter in the culture’s history. Fittingly, Sia’s offering to the soundtrack is one of booming empowerment and triumph, with a simple but effective refrain of, “You can do anything.” Take a listen below.
