Avey Tare unearths “Visit the Dojo” for Our First 100 Days — listen

on January 22, 2017, 6:50pm

It’s day three of Donald Trump’s presidency, and while he’s off bogusly bragging and instructing his staffers to blatantly lie with “alternative facts,” the people’s resistance continues. Our First 100 Days has released the next entry in its subscription compilation, and it comes from Animal Collective’s Avey Tare.

More accurately, it comes from Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks, Tare’s side project with Angel Deradoorian and Jeremy Hyman. The track is a previously unheard demo called “Visit the Dojo” leftover from the band’s Enter the Slasher House. The song is a buzz saw operated by a demented clown as it cuts through thick, sloppy mud, all electric hums and deceptively creeping dread. Take a listen below.

The first two entires in Our First 100 Days came from Angel Olsen and PWR BTTM, with future contributions coming from Joey Purp, Waxahatchee, Ty Segall, Whitney, The Range, Mitski, Tim Heidecker, Bully, Will Oldham, and others. You can subscribe here for a minimum of a $30 contribution, with all profits going to benefit The People’s Climate Movement, All Above All, Cosecha, Southerners On New Ground, and Hoosier Action.
