Hot Thoughts has been announced as the title for Spoon’s forthcoming album. The news was revealed by the band during a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Debatable program, as Fuck Yeah Spoon pointed out. A March 17th release date for the LP was also teased, but Spoon and record label Matador have yet to confirm.

The album title shares its name with a new song the Austin indie rockers debuted at a semi-secret hometown show over the weekend .According to the group, other tracks appearing on the follow-up to 2014’s They Want My Soul include “Whisper I’ll Listen,” “Talk You Into It,” “Can I Sit Next To U?”, “Tear It Down”, and an instrumental closer reportedly called “Us”.

Elsewhere in the SiriusXM chat, frontman Britt Daniel confirmed Spoon would be playing this year’s installment of South By Southwest, which takes place from March 13th through March 19th in Austin (and coincides pretty darn well with a 3/17 album release).

Previously, EW reported that the new album would see Spoon tackle new ground with the help of frequent producer Dave Fridmann, including “crafted multidimensional jams that showcase textured guitar riffs, warm keyboards, oddball studio effects, and
[frontman Britt] Daniel’s sandpaper-rough croon.”
